MADINAH: The Islamic University of Madinah has been cited as a global model for intercultural coexistence and global citizenship at a UNESCO Executive Board session in Paris.
Saudi Arabia highlighted the university’s diverse academic environment during the executive board’s 224th session.
The university hosts students from 180 countries, and promotes mutual respect and linguistic diversity, the Kingdom said.
Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its commitment to education for peace, emphasizing policies that promote tolerance and equality, while rejecting violence, discrimination, and extremism.
Curricula are designed to foster human coexistence and justice, positioning education as a key tool for international understanding, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
The address also highlighted institutional efforts supporting these values, including the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology, the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication, and the UNESCO Regional Center for Dialogue and Peace, which serve as regional and international benchmarks for promoting dialogue and understanding.
