Saudi Arabia welcomes UNSC resolution condemning Iranian attacks on Gulf states

The Saudi Foreign Ministry welcomed the adoption by the Security Council of Resolution No. 2817, submitted by the Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Jordan, which condemns in the strongest terms the heinous attacks launched by Iran on Gulf states and Jordan, and determines that these acts constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.
“The Kingdom welcomes the contents of the resolution, including condemning the attack on residential areas and the targeting of civilian objects, and the resulting civilian casualties, damage to civilian buildings, and solidarity with these countries and their people,” it said in a statement.
The ministry referred to the international support and condemnation of Iran’s attacks and demanded they be stopped immediately and unconditionally, and to stop any provocation or threat to neighboring countries.
“The Kingdom affirms the contents of the resolution and its full right to take measures to ensure the protection of its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity and to deter aggression, as recognized in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations,” she said.
