Saudi crown prince, British PM discuss regional developments

RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Britain’s Prime Minster Keir Starmer in Jeddah on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two countries and discussed ways to further strengthen their strategic partnership across various fields.

They also addressed the latest regional and international developments, particularly the developments in the region and their security and economic implications.

Both sides affirmed their support for all efforts to strengthen the region’s security and stability. A number of issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

Starmer arrived in the Kingdom earlier in the day with Saudi Press Agency photos showing him being received at the city’s airport by Makkah Region Governor Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz.

Speaking during his visit, Starmer welcomed the Iran-US ceasefire, adding that there was still “a lot of work to do” to make ​sure ‌that the agreement becomes ‌permanent, Reuters reported him saying.

“But also a lot of work to do in relation to the Strait of Hormuz, which has an impact everywhere across ​the ​world,” he added.

Starmer was greeted on his arrival in Jeddah by Makkah Region Governor Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Press Agency reported. The respective ambassadors to each country were also present.
