Amal Clooney shows off Elie Saab look in Milan

DUBAI: British Lebanese human rights lawyer and activist Amal Clooney opted for an outfit by Lebanese designer Elie Saab at an event hosted by the Cartier Women’s Initiative.

The sleek look featured a pencil skirt and black top hailing from the luxury label’s Ready-to-Wear Fall-Winter 26/27 collection.

Clooney showed off the crocodile skin-textured skirt as part of a chic ensemble she wore to a session held in Milan late last week.

She completed the look with subtle jewelry by Cartier.

The Cartier Women’s Initiative is an annual entrepreneurship program that seeks to drive change by empowering women entrepreneurs.

It was founded in 2006 and is open to women-run and women-owned businesses from any country and sector.

Clooney has strong ties with Cartier and was named the inaugural contributor to Cartier Voices in 2023, a community of individuals contributing to cultural, philanthropic, environmental and social initiatives.

“Whether you believe in human rights, or just prosperity, it is a good idea to try to unshackle half the population of the world,” she said in a speech at the Cartier Women’s Initiative awards ceremony in 2023. “The latest data shows that women’s economic parity would add $12 trillion to the global economy. Yet the percentage of philanthropic grants that go to women’s empowerment is in the single digits. And women’s rights in places as diverse as Afghanistan and the US have been in retreat in recent years.”

Meanwhile, Saab showcased his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week in March, as part of a packed schedule of international luxury labels.

The designer’s Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collection — from which Clooney’s outfit was handpicked — was inspired by New York, with billowing ballgowns printed with Central Park-themed florals and more fitted, business chic looks seen on the runway.

The “Elie Saab woman immerses herself in the 90s New York art scene. Intellectual and seductive, her look embraces downtown power tailoring and uptown florals with a twist,” the fashion house said in its show notes.
