Drones hit Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, fires reported, no injuries

Kuwait ​Petroleum Corporation said its Mina ‌Al-Ahmadi ‌refinery ​was ‌hit ⁠by ​drones early ⁠on Friday, setting ⁠off ‌fires ‌at ​operating ‌units, according ‌to the ‌state news agency, but ⁠no injuries ⁠were reported.

The Kuwaiti army earlier said air defenses were currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in a statement said they are monitoring and tracking air quality in the areas surrounding the refinery, and no negative environmental impacts have been recorded so far as a result of the attack.

Emergency and firefighting teams are working to contain the fires and prevent their spread, the company said. No injuries were reported in the attack.

Power and water ‌desalination ‌plant also hit

A power and water ‌desalination ‌plant ​was also hit by Iran on Friday, ⁠causing ​material damage to ⁠parts of the facility, ⁠the Ministry ‌of ‌Electricity, Water ​and ‌Renewable ‌Energy said.

It said that emergency ‌and technical teams were ⁠responding under ⁠contingency plans to maintain operations and secure the site.

Gulf attacks

Abu Dhabi authorities said operations were suspended at at Habshan gas facilities after debris fell and a fire broke out following interception by air defenses.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office also reported that 12 individuals – six Nepalis and six Indians – sustained injuries after intercepted debris fell in the emirate’s Ajban area. One Nepali individual suffered major injury, the office said.

The UAE defense ministry earlier said they were actively engaging with missiles and drone threat.

Sirens warning of incoming missile fire went off in Bahrain early Friday as authorities urged citizens and residents to remain calm and seek shelter.
