Pakistan condemns Israel’s military operations in Gaza and West Bank

  • Pakistan’s foreign minister Ishaq Dar discusses regional situation with Egyptian counterpart in Islamabad
  • Israel’s military continues to carry out airstrikes and operations in Gaza despite a US-brokered fragile truce

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday condemned Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the West Bank, the foreign office said, reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering support for Palestinians.

Israel’s military has continued to carry out operations in Gaza and the West Bank despite a fragile ceasefire in place in Gaza since last year. Two ‌Israeli air strikes on two police checkpoints killed at least six Palestinians, including a child, Palestinian health officials said on Sunday. The Israeli military’s violence in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, has also surged since Oct. 7, 2023 when Hamas carried out a surprise attack on Israel.

The foreign office shared the statement after Dar, who is also Pakistan’s foreign minister, held bilateral talks with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad. The two sides held talks ahead of an important quadrilateral meeting that Pakistan will host with the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss the Middle East tensions.

“The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the continued aggression by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank,” the foreign office said.

Dar appreciated Egypt’s role in facilitating humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza, the statement added.

Both sides discussed regional and international developments, the foreign office said, particularly the situation in the Middle East.

“They underscored the need for restraint, de-escalation, and the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy,” it added.

Israel’s military has killed over 680 Palestinians ‌in Gaza since ‌a ceasefire with Hamas came into ‌effect in November 2025, Palestinian health officials ‌say.

More than 72,000 have been killed since the war started in October 2023. Israel is now also waging ‌a war, alongside the US, against Iran, and is carrying out a new campaign against Hezbollah in which Israeli forces have invaded southern Lebanon.

Pakistan, which does not recognize Israel, has consistently criticized its military for ceasefire violations in Gaza and urged the international community to intervene and ensure protection for Palestinian civilians.
