Exploring the Creation Story Museum in Saudi Arabia's Madinah

MADINAH: Located two floors below the garden in As Safiyyah Park & Museum, just steps from the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, the Creation Story Museum offers an interactive journey from the beginning of time through the stories of the prophets.

While the holy city of Madinah has long been a sanctuary for millions drawn to the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid An-Nabawi), new museums are offering visitors a deeper look at Islamic heritage, providing detailed reflections of the Holy Qur’an and the lives of the prophets.

The Creation Story Museum offers a sanctuary of silent solitude away from the bustling streets. Surrounded by a garden and a waterfall, this peaceful and quiet space serves as the perfect point of reflection. It should be noted that it is not a Muslim-only experience; it can be enjoyed by both Muslims and non-Muslims eager to learn more about Islam.

While the museum was surprisingly quiet, it offered a secluded and immersive experience that aligns with the broader efforts of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to enhance the experience of pilgrims during Hajj and Ziyarah.

The museum offers scheduled tours in both English and Arabic; however, visitors are welcome at any time, as the entire experience is provided in Arabic with personal English listening devices. Additionally, all video materials are fully translated.

The museum narrates the stories of the prophets in chronological order, beginning with Adam and continuing through Enoch, Noah, Hud, Salih, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, and Jacob, ultimately leading to the final messenger of Islam, Prophet Muhammad.

The museum guides you through a series of themed rooms, each featuring a unique layout with vibrant colors, ambient lighting, sound effects and visuals. These elements combine to transport you back in time, beginning with the story of creation and the life of Prophet Adam.

Through a guided walking tour and immersive 360-degree visuals, visitors see a simple room transform into the world of the prophets. The experience details the birth of Prophet Muhammad and his migration from Makkah to Madinah.

The tour concludes with a detailed narration of the “End of Days,” offering a powerful reminder that the world is fleeting. It serves as a reminder for visitors to value every moment of life. These final messages encourage guests to do good, spread kindness and cherish the time they have left.

One thing to note is that the tour can occasionally move rather fast, especially for visitors unfamiliar with Islam and the prophetic narrations. However, the tour guides were very friendly and eager to explain everything in Arabic and English upon request. At the end of the journey, visitors receive a QR code allowing them to review the stories and descriptions of each prophet, available in both Arabic and English, at their own pace.

The tour concludes at the gift shop, which is highly recommended. Unlike many tourist shops, the prices are regulated and significantly lower than those found in outside markets.
