Saudi Arabia leads condolences after fatal helicopter crash in Qatari territorial waters

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan on Sunday expressed their condolences and solidarity with Qatar and Turkiye following a helicopter crash in Qatari territorial waters that killed military personnel during a routine mission.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, and to the governments and peoples of Qatar and Turkiye, after the helicopter went down following a technical malfunction.

The crash claimed the lives of seven crew members from the Qatar Armed Forces and joint Qatari-Turkish forces.

The ministry said: “The Kingdom expresses its solidarity with and support for the families of the martyrs and the governments and peoples of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye in this tragic incident, and extends its sincere wishes for everyone’s safety and well-being.”

The UAE also conveyed its solidarity and condolences. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed sympathy to the families of those killed, as well as to the Qatari and Turkish governments, over what it described as a tragic loss.

Jordan, in a statement carried by the Petra News Agency, also expressed its deepest condolences, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirming its solidarity with Qatar and Turkiye while extending condolences to the victims’ families.
