RIYADH: The Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah were full of worshippers on Tuesday night for the completion of Qur’an recitation.
Many Muslims aim to recite the entire Qur’an over the holy month of Ramadan, and tens of thousands of worshippers gathered at Islam’s two holiest sites to mark the occasion.
From early in the day, the Prophet’s Mosque’s corridors, courtyards, rooftop and expansions were filled with worshippers and visitors, with rows extending into surrounding streets.
The prayers were led by Imam and Khateeb Sheikh Salah Al-Budair, who prayed for forgiveness and deliverance for all Muslims.
He also asked Allah to protect the Kingdom and the wider Muslim world from harm, to maintain security and stability across Muslim nations, and to guide their leaders toward what benefits Islam and Muslims.
The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, in coordination with relevant authorities, had prepared a comprehensive system of services to ensure the safety and comfort of the mosque’s visitors.
These measures included disinfecting the mosque five times a day, including the rooftop and courtyards, fumigating it with incense four times daily and placing approximately 25,000 prayer rugs to create a comfortable environment for worshippers.
The Grand Mosque also saw large crowds of worshippers as visitors from across the Kingdom and around the world gathered to perform Tahajjud prayers.
The sacred space was filled with a deeply spiritual atmosphere of faith, humility, and devotion.
Recitations of the Qur’an echoed throughout the mosque as worshippers stood in long rows, reflecting the unity of Muslims.
In moments of profound devotion, prayers blended with tears, and hands were raised to the sky in sincere hope for their prayers to be accepted.
There was a diverse crowd of visitors from many nationalities, all praying side by side in an atmosphere of calm and tranquility.
Authorities intensified operational and service efforts to accommodate the crowds, enhancing crowd management measures while maintaining ongoing cleaning and sanitization.
Zamzam water was made available throughout the mosque, while air-conditioning and lighting systems operated around the clock to ensure the comfort and safety of worshippers.
Guidance teams were also deployed across the mosque and its courtyards to assist visitors, provide directions, and help organize entry and exit traffic, ensuring safety.
These efforts reflect the leadership’s ongoing commitment to serving visitors to the Grand Mosque and enabling them to perform their worship in a secure and serene environment.
