MAKKAH: Makkah’s taxi fleet has been strengthened after the General Transport Center, one of the centers of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites centers, received three licenses for companies operating taxi contracts.
Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser handed over the licenses to Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites.
Al-Rasheed said the licenses would strengthen regulation of Makkah’s taxi sector by introducing an advanced fleet equipped with tracking systems, interactive trip displays and instant translation features, enhancing service quality and ensuring secure payments.
He added the target of the Makkah Taxi program was to almost double the number of taxis in the city this year to around 1,600, with the aim of improving transportation quality and mobility across the city.
