Turkey says second Iranian ballistic missile shot down by NATO defences in airspace

ANKARA: NATO air defences ​in the eastern Mediterranean have shot down a second ballistic missile that was fired from Iran ‌and entered ‌Turkey's ​airspace, ‌the Turkish ⁠Defence ​Ministry said ⁠on Monday, warning that it will take necessary steps without hesitation.
This marks the ⁠second Iranian ‌ballistic ‌missile that ​has targeted ‌NATO member Turkey ‌in the last week.
In a statement, the ministry said ‌some ammunition parts had fallen in the ⁠southeastern ⁠province of Gaziantep and that there were no casualties in the incident. It called on all parties to adhere to ​Ankara's warnings. 

US urges citizens to leave southeast Turkiye

Washington has advised non-essential staff to leave its consulate near the southern Turkish city of Adana near a key NATO base and ordered US citizens to leave “southeast Turkiye,” the US embassy to Ankara said Monday.
“On March 9, 2026, the Department of State ordered non-emergency US government employees and US government employee family members to leave Consulate General Adana due to the safety risks,” it said on X, referencing a travel advisory saying: “Americans in southeast Turkiye are strongly encouraged to depart now.”
