MAKKAH: The ninth edition of the Makkah Lanterns event, running from the 9th to the 20th of Ramadan and organized by the Makkah Chamber for Exhibitions and Events Center, is part of a seasonal program to highlight the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month.

The event provides an interactive social space that attracts residents and visitors of all ages, offering an experience that blends heritage with social and economic activities.

The venue has transformed into a vibrant Ramadan destination, where Makkah Lanterns presents a distinctive Ramadan nighttime atmosphere, combining family gatherings with cultural and social activities.

Several visitors told Arab News that the event offers an opportunity to enjoy an authentic Ramadan atmosphere and discover distinctive local products in a comfortable, family-friendly environment.

“The event is truly beautiful and reflects the genuine spirit of Ramadan, combining shopping, heritage, and family gatherings,” said Abdullah Al-Maliki.

“It also provides an opportunity to support local producers and entrepreneurs.”

Another visitor, “Umm Muhammad” Al-Aboudi, said that the event revived the Ramadan atmosphere in a unique way.

She noted that the variety of pavilions and products on display offered visitors a diverse experience.

“I thoroughly enjoyed browsing the heritage pavilions and saw wonderful local products that reflect the culture of Makkah society,” she said.

Visitor Sami Al-Qurashi said that such events contribute to revitalizing social activity in Makkah during Ramadan, noting that the festival’s overall atmosphere reflects the spirit of the holy month.

“Events such as Makkah Lanterns provide families with a suitable place to enjoy pleasant Ramadan evenings, and they also showcase the creativity of young people and productive families,” he said.

The event features diverse pavilions designed to cater to visitors’ interests, showing local products, small and medium-sized enterprises, handicrafts, and heritage items that reflect the authenticity of the region’s cultural heritage.

The pavilions also offer visitors the opportunity to explore spaces that blend heritage with modern touches, where handicrafts stand alongside local products and entrepreneurial initiatives.

This reflects the economic and social dynamism that Makkah experiences during its various seasons, especially during Ramadan, during which there is a surge in social activities and community events.

The event contributes to supporting entrepreneurs and productive families through interactive display platforms that give them the opportunity to showcase their products and connect directly with the public.

The Makkah Lanterns festival is organized as part of the Makkah Chamber’s efforts to support community and economic initiatives and create interactive platforms that contribute to stimulating economic activity and enhancing community participation.

This aligns with the goals of improving the quality of life and highlighting Makkah’s cultural identity during various seasons, especially Ramadan, which represents a unique social and spiritual season for the community.
