Saudi Arabia intercepts more drones over the Kingdom, UK affirms support for the region

RIYADH: The Kingdom intercepted and destroyed nine drones and two cruise missiles in the Eastern Province and Al-Kharj governorate respectively, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

The operations were confirmed by Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki. No fatalities or injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry condemned Iran’s attack on the US Embassy in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter after preliminary assessments indicated two drones targeted the facility.

Black smoke and flames could be seen in the area where many foreign missions are located.

UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated in an X post: “Iranian strikes on Riyadh, including on the US Embassy, are completely unacceptable.

“We condemn these reckless and destabilizing attacks that target innocent civilians. We stand with Saudi Arabia and our other partners across the region in the face of these attacks.”
