RIYADH: Arab leaders congratulated King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday, as Saudi Arabia celebrated Founding Day.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas all extended their best wishes to the leadership and the Kingdom for their continued prosperity and development.
Abbas noted Saudi Arabia’s strong support for the Palestinian people and its efforts to secure the recognition of a Palestinian state by several countries, including France and the UK, in September.
Sheikh Meshaal commended Saudi Arabia’s significant role in ensuring security and stability, and in promoting peace in the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
On Saturday, the Saudi leadership received congratulations from King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar.
Saudi Arabia is staging various events to mark the 299th anniversary of the establishment of the First Saudi State by Imam Muhammed bin Saud in 1727.
