King, crown prince donate $40m to housing campaign

  • ‘Generosity from Us and Within Us’ initiative supports families in need across the Kingdom

RIYADH: King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have launched the “Generosity from Us and Within Us” housing campaign.

The leaders donated a total of SR150 million ($40 million) through the Jood Eskan platform, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

The donation reflects the leadership’s commitment to supporting national efforts and initiatives to provide suitable housing for families across the Kingdom, the SPA stated.

Municipalities and Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail thanked the king and the crown prince for their continued support of housing initiatives across the Kingdom.

Al-Hogail, who also chairs the Developmental Housing Foundation, known as Sakan, highlighted the significant impact of previous donations in achieving developmental housing targets.

He added that these contributions play a vital role in motivating individuals and institutions to give through the Jood Eskan platform.

The platform aims to engage community members in development programs, fostering social solidarity through a structured mechanism that ensures contributions reach developmental housing projects.

During a press conference held by the Ministry of Media in Riyadh this week, Al-Hogail said the Jood Eskan platform began by serving 100 families and has since grown into a national initiative supporting more than 50,000 families across the Kingdom.

The housing minister added that the number of donors has exceeded 4.5 million, with total contributions surpassing SR5 billion since 2021.

In December last year, Sakan announced the launch of the first phase of housing unit handovers to beneficiaries across Saudi Arabia, in line with directives from the crown prince.

The announcement follows the crown prince’s personal donation of SR1 billion to the foundation through the Jood Eskan platform in April 2025, aimed at supporting homeownership for eligible families and reflecting his commitment to ensuring a decent quality of life for citizens.

Following his directives to complete designated housing projects within 12 months while maintaining the highest standards of quality and governance, Sakan adopted an implementation plan enabling immediate handover commencement.

The plan comprises six phases covering all regions of the Kingdom, selecting completed housing units developed by national developers and companies according to approved technical specifications, ensuring a swift and tangible developmental impact.

In coordination with the Kingdom’s principalities, Sakan is also implementing a monthly handover schedule covering two regions per phase, streamlining beneficiary access and enhancing the efficiency of handover operations.

It also discussed the role of the real estate market in attracting investment and financing, suggesting that strong market activity enhances investor confidence and supports the launch of projects that improve the urban environment.
