“Thief: Deadly Shadows” a sequel to 1998’s critically acclaimed “Thief: The Dark Project” credited for revolutionizing stealth gameplay places you yet again in the shoes of Garrett, a crafty and intelligent master thief as he sneaks through darkly lit environments stealing riches, ambushing targets and accomplishing requested objectives unaware of a distorted conspiracy and of the city’s mysterious dark future. In this review, we’ll take a look at graphics, sounds, multiplayer and gameplay.
Graphics:
“Thief: Deadly Shadows” graphics are tremendous. The game preserves Thief’s classic very dark and insecure atmosphere. In Addition, the game utilizes the lighting bloom effect marvelously, achieving high levels of reality and suiting the atmosphere splendidly. Furthermore, the environment is highly detailed and looks superb.
Score: 9.5/10
Sounds:
Sound has constantly been a significant feature of the Thief series. The developers put a great deal of effort in this aspect demonstrable by haunting faded ambient music, outstanding voice work, realistic enemy conversation and crisp sound effect and crystal clear surround sound.
Score: 9.5/10
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer feature is not available.
Score: N/A
Gameplay:
“Thief: Deadly Shadow’s” storyline is one of the game’s highlights. The story picks of where “Thief: the Metal Age” ended and circles around a prophecy which predicts a catastrophe end to the city. Garret once again is plunged in to a twisted scheme and must deal with Thief’s usual cast, Pagets, the Hammerites and the Keepers to solve the riddle. Players will have a decent armory selection but must properly utilize their mind, shadows and sounds in order to advance through vast missions. Moreover, the A.I. has been improved enormously making Thief‘s latest addition more challenging then ever before.
Score: 9.8/10
Conclusion:
“Thief: Deadly Shadows” is one of the best stealth-based games ever, if not the best. The developers “Ion Storm” did a marvelous job in all aspects producing Thief at its finest. Fans of Thief series or the genre should definitely pick this game.
