JEDDAH: The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was named “Best Event Spectacle” at the annual Formula One Promoter Awards in London on Wednesday.
Organizers said the award recognizes the promoter that delivered the most impressive ceremonial spectacle before and after the race, and off-track event spectacle, including entertainment, concerts and fan activities that enhance the race-weekend experience.
Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, chairperson of the Saudi Motorsport Company, was thrilled by the honor.
“This award is the result of years of dedication, collaboration and vision from everyone involved in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, from our teams on the ground to the fans who bring the event to life each year,” he said.
“Beyond the incredible on-track action, our goal has always been to create a welcoming and immersive race weekend that offers something for everyone by delivering the very best in live entertainment, interactive fan zones and an unrivaled atmosphere that makes Jeddah a truly unique F1 fan destination.
“We are grateful to Formula One for its ongoing partnership and support, which has allowed us to continually raise the bar for what a Grand Prix can be.”
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which takes place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the fastest street circuit in the world, debuted in 2021. It has quickly established itself as one of the most spectacular F1 night races, combining high-speed thrills with what is described as a fully integrated program of fan engagement, live entertainment, and immersive attractions for audiences of all ages.
In fact, the event is almost as well-known for the off-track entertainment as the adrenaline-fueled action on the track.
The list of global superstars that have performed after-race concerts on the main stage include Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Travis Scott, Swedish House Mafia, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and Usher. The performers at this year’s race weekend in Jeddah, in April, have yet to be announced but fans can expect another world-class lineup.
As for the excitement on the track, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit remains the longest and fastest street circuit in the sport, with drivers averaging 252 kph and spending 79 percent of each lap at full throttle.
The 2026 Formula One season is shaping up to be a landmark year, featuring all-new cars designed for closer, more unpredictable racing, newcomer Cadillac joining the 10 established constructors’ teams, and the long-awaited debut of Audi, which has taken over the Sauber team.
Fans in Jeddah will be looking forward to welcoming the reigning world champion, McLaren’s Lando Norris, who will likely face tough challenges from teammate Oscar Piastri and Red Bull’s four-time champion, Max Verstappen.
The F1 Academy will also return to the Kingdom, providing a showcase for the next generation of female racing talent.
