LONDON: Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel-Atty reviewed the developments in the Gaza Strip during a meeting in Amman on Tuesday.
They emphasized the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian coastal enclave and to ensure unhindered entry of humanitarian aid, in accordance with the plan of US President Donald Trump.
They stressed the importance of allowing the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in Gaza while ensuring the unity of the Occupied Palestinian Territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the Petra news agency reported.
Safadi and Abdel-Atty welcomed the formation of the National Committee for Gaza Administration, the start of phase two of the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” and the launch of the Board of Peace by Trump last week.
They emphasized the need to sustain support for the Board of Peace’s mandate in Gaza and advance toward establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 Middle East War lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers warned that Israel’s illegal actions in the occupied West Bank could escalate tensions and undermine peace efforts, threatening the two-state solution, which is essential for regional security and stability, according to Petra.
