LONDON: Three Palestinians were injured and several vehicles were set on fire during an attack on Thursday by a group of Israeli settlers on a plant nursery in the town of Deir Sharaf, about 5 miles west of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
The settlers stormed Al-Junaidi nursery and assaulted people inside. A 65-year-old man’s hand was broken, and two other people were left with bruises and other injuries. All three were taken to hospital for treatment, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.
The attackers also set fire to several vehicles at the nursery, resulting in significant damage, the agency said.
The West Bank is home to nearly 3.3 million Palestinians and 700,000 settlers. The Israeli settlements there are considered illegal under international law, and widely viewed as an obstacle to hopes for the future establishment of a Palestinian state.
Attacks by settlers on Palestinian villages and properties in the West Bank have increased since the Gaza war began in October 2023. Palestinians have been killed in some incidents.
