JEDDAH: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation announced that an extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers would take place in order to discuss the rapidly escalating developments in Somalia.
The meeting will be held at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah on Saturday.
It will discuss Israel’s recognition of the so-called Somaliland region as an independent state, a move the organization described as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The emergency meeting aims to coordinate a unified Islamic position on the issue and to reaffirm full support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in line with international law and relevant OIC resolutions.
