Mild winter boosts outdoor life in Makkah

  • With temperatures above 18 C, conditions are ideal for outdoor activities

MAKKAH: The mild winter in Makkah has improved residents’ quality of life by encouraging greater use of public facilities and increasing social interaction.

With temperatures above 18 C, conditions are ideal for outdoor activities, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

Public parks and walking paths have seen a 30 to 40 percent rise in use compared with summer, making public spaces a key part of daily winter life.

Walkways have recorded thousands of daily visitors, supported by over 20 major parks and paths that promote walking, light exercise, and public health, the SPA added.

The moderate weather has boosted outdoor seating at cafes and restaurants, with demand increasing about 25 percent in the evenings, creating social and recreational spaces that enhance the urban experience.

Winter is an ideal time for balancing daily life and leisure, as well-prepared facilities, improved lighting, and safety measures encourage outings and physical and social activity.

Authorities continue to enhance public facilities through maintenance, cleaning, and urban improvements to match the seasonal rise in usage, increasing residents’ satisfaction with services.
