RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Center for Space Futures announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Italy’s University of Bologna on Saturday.
The agreement will strengthen the institutions’ cooperation in the fields of space law, regulation, and related policies, reflecting their commitment to advancing structured collaboration in areas of shared strategic importance.
The memorandum establishes a framework for joint research, professional training, internship programs, and capacity-building initiatives. It is designed to enhance academic-policy integration and support the development of governance approaches aligned with the evolving realities of space activities.
Through this cooperation, both parties aim to foster rigorous legal scholarship alongside practical policy engagement.
The managing director of the Center for Space Futures, Mishaal Ashemimry, stated that the partnership “reinforces the connection between academic expertise and applied policy development in the space sector.”
Ashemimry also noted that collaboration with the University of Bologna will “strengthen specialized capabilities in space law and support informed engagement on emerging regulatory challenges.”
