LONDON: The president of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, discussed the comprehensive strategic partnership between their countries on Wednesday, along with ways in which bilateral relations might be strengthened.
They reaffirmed their commitment to the enhancement of cooperation in key areas such as development, investment, food security and renewable energy, the Emirates News Agency reported.
They noted that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed by the nations in July marked a significant step in their economic relationship, and is anticipated to yield significant results.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Also on Wednesday, Aliyev attended the opening ceremony for the Games of the Future 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The event, which continues until Dec. 23, is a “phygital” sports tournament that combines physical activities with digital gaming.
Several Emirati ministers and other high-ranking officials also attended the presidents’ meeting, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, vice president, deputy prime minister and chairperson of the Presidential Court; and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of the interior.
