Saudi housing authority begins home handovers across nation

  • Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally given over $266m
  • Developmental Housing Foundation seeks to boost living standards

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Developmental Housing Foundation announced on Sunday that it has begun handing over homes to citizens across the country.

The move by Sakan, as a part of the Jood Eskan housing initiative, follows directives from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The crown prince has donated SR1 billion ($266.5 million) from his personal funds to the initiative to support home ownership for eligible families and improve living standards.

Sakan said the first phase marks the beginning of a wider delivery plan that will have houses handed over in six phases across all regions of the Kingdom.

The timeline follows directives from the crown prince to complete allocated housing projects within a maximum period of 12 months while adhering to the highest standards of quality and governance.

The Sakan program is implementing a monthly distribution plan that will cover two regions per phase, aimed at streamlining beneficiary access and improving delivery efficiency.

Sakan said the initiative reflects the crown prince’s commitment to projects that enhance social stability and contribute to long-term developmental progress across the Kingdom.

JEDDAH: King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recorded a new historic milestone on Sunday with the arrival of the 50-millionth passenger for year 2025.

The 50 million milestone marks the highest number ever recorded by a Saudi airport since the launch of civil aviation in the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

It also placed KAIA among the world’s mega airports in terms of passenger numbers. The figure represents a 1.83 percent growth from 49.1 million passenger arrival recorded in 2024.

“This achievement reflects the qualitative transformation at KAIA and its growing status as a regional hub and national gateway connecting the Kingdom to the world,” the report said.

It also underscores the airport’s vital role in enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a global tourist destination and a gateway to the Two Holy Mosques by facilitating the movement of visitors, Umrah performers, and pilgrims.

KAIA serves as a gateway to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah by facilitating the movement of visitors, Umrah performers, and pilgrims.
