Where We Are Going Today: Skoops! ice cream in Riyadh

  • The menu at Skoops! is one of the most exciting things about about paying a visit to the shop

If you are looking out for a dessert that goes behind the usual cup or cone of ice cream, Skoops! is the spot to visit, whether at their Al-Takhassousi branch or their drive-through in Irqah, Riyadh.

Hard to miss with its orange banner and quirky logo, the ice cream shop has an impressive and diverse menu.

You will love their convenient and swift drive-through branch, which was an experience in itself because of the giant orange ice cream atop the store. The drive-through is decorated with cones and the quote “Delight, treats, tickles your senses,” which adds a fun ambience.

The menu at Skoops! is one of the most exciting things about about paying a visit to the shop. Apart from the ice-cream-in-a-cup option featuring up to 16 flavor selections, Skoops! also offers a variety of “cups” that have gone viral: creme brulee with ice cream cup, cheesecake cup, and finally the chocolate pistachio kunafa ice cream cup, which all cost SR20 ($5.33). The menu also features their special tiramisu collection, which includes tiramisu pudding, tiramisu ice cream, and crunch caramel tiramisu, which also cost SR20. If you’re into trying something entirely new, Skoops! offers ice cream tacos, sticks, and cookies.

You may order one tiramisu ice cream and pair it with a double chocolate cookie and the chocolate pistachio kunafa ice cream cup. You can also incorporate some fun into the experience, which is what happens when you order their sauce syringe in a chocolate flavor.

The tiramisu option is a well-balanced yet sweet experience. Topped with soft cacao powder, the tiramisu merged the taste of soft chocolate with creamy, cold ice cream. You may choose the tiramisu ice cream if you are looking for something light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweet all at once. The cookie has a chewy and toasty texture that pairs very nicely with the fluff of the tiramisu cup.

The chocolate pistachio kunafa ice cream cup is inspired by the flavors of the iconic Dubai chocolate, the ice cream cup mimics the texture and flavor profile wonderfully. The crunch of the pistachio and the kunafa break through the sweetness of the chocolate and the ice cream perfectly. This option is ideal for those who like nutty undertone flavors to their dessert. You may also try the chocolate sauce syringe, which makes the cup a lot sweeter.

If you are someone who enjoys more of a dining dessert experience, the Skoops! experience is more of a quick grab for something innovative and tasty than a sit-down. Regardless, Skoops! is worth a visit, especially if you are bored with the average ice cream scoop.

Where We Are Going Today: Offbrief cafe in Diriyah

  • Offbrief’s design is colorful and playful. However, some of the seating is not particularly comfortable, and the open windows allowed mosquitos inside, which shortened my stay

Offbrief opened in Diriyah’s creative district, JAX, less than two months ago. The café offers a range of hot and cold drinks alongside a small selection of sweets in a relaxed and welcoming space that’s ideal for both casual meet-ups and quiet solo moments.

The outdoor area is lively — well-suited for social gatherings with friends or family. Inside, the atmosphere is calmer, making it a good option for catching up on a book, working, or for informal meetings.

I was there to work, and ordered an iced matcha latte with banana bread, which cost a total of SR36 — a reasonable price. The banana bread was a highlight, while the matcha latte’s earthy flavor is probably better suited to dedicated matcha fans than to casual drinkers.

Offbrief’s design is colorful and playful. However, some of the seating is not particularly comfortable, and the open windows allowed mosquitos inside, which shortened my stay.

Overall, Offbrief left a positive impression, particularly in terms of ambience, friendly staff, and thoughtful design. While my experience had a few drawbacks, it’s a space I would return to, especially during the daytime and with company, to enjoy the setting in a more relaxed way.
