RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Health on Sunday launched a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at strengthening compliance with regulations governing bariatric surgery and enhancing patient safety across licensed healthcare facilities in the Kingdom.
The initiative focuses on clarifying mandatory health requirements for bariatric procedures, including the need for healthcare providers to obtain proper authorisations and operate strictly within their licensed scope of practice.
It also stresses the importance of clearly explaining medical conditions, surgical risks and potential complications to patients as part of informed and safe care.
As part of the campaign, the ministry is conducting inspection rounds to ensure compliance with key health regulations, including the Health Professions Practice Law, the Healthcare Institutions Law and related executive regulations covering private health institutions, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
The ministry urged healthcare facilities and practitioners to adhere fully to approved standards, reaffirming its commitment to raising public awareness, strengthening oversight and maintaining high-quality obesity-related surgical services nationwide.
