SKOPJE: The Imam of the Grand Mosque of Makkah, Maher Al-Muaiqly, met with Afrim Gashi, president of the Assembly of North Macedonia, in Skopje recently, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
Al-Muaiqly’s visit was part of a Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance program to strengthen ties with religious and official institutions worldwide.
Gashi thanked the Saudi leadership for its efforts to serve Islam and Muslims and praised the Kingdom’s role in promoting peace and moderation. He added that the imam’s visit was “a reflection of the deep-rooted cooperation between the two countries,” the SPA reported.
Al-Muaiqly, meanwhile, “reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Islamic affairs and engaging Muslim communities,” according to the SPA.
