LONDON: Israeli forces blew up three Palestinian houses in Jenin and Nablus cities in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday amid ongoing military operations in Tubas governorate for the third consecutive day.
Early on Tuesday, Israeli troops, along with military reinforcements, surrounded a residential building in the Zawata neighborhood in Nablus and forced the occupants outside into the cold as they prepared to demolish the apartment of imprisoned Palestinian Abdul Karim Sanoubar.Residents from nearby apartments were forced to evacuate when Israeli soldiers planted and detonated explosives inside Sanoubar’s apartment, according to Wafa news agency.
Israeli forces detained Sanoubar in February. He is suspected of carrying out a bombing attack on buses in Bat Yam and Holon, near Tel Aviv, during the same month. Following the attack, the Israeli government announced the launch of a military operation in the West Bank.
Later on Tuesday evening, Israeli forces detonated explosives to destroy two homes on the outskirts of the Jenin refugee camp located on Al-Ghabz Street.
The demolitions are part of the Israeli military’s intensified operations in the Tubas Governorate and an announced plan to demolish 24 buildings in the area for “operational reasons,” according to Wafa.
In January, Israeli forces launched a major offensive in Jenin, resulting in 58 Palestinian deaths, over 200 injuries, and the demolition of more than 600 houses, displacing 22,000 people.
