LONDON: Israeli settlers injured four pro-Palestine international activists who were staying in solidarity with the community of Ein al-Duyuk, near Jericho, in the occupied West Bank.
On Sunday morning, about 10 masked Israeli settlers intruded on the activists’ residence at dawn, assaulted them and stole personal belongings, including passports and mobile phones, according to the Wafa news agency.
Of the four injured, three suffered moderate injuries and one was critically wounded before being admitted to hospital. Three of the injured activists are from Italy, and the fourth is a Canadian citizen.
Last week, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom urged Israel to stop “settler violence against Palestinian civilians” in the West Bank.
“These attacks must stop,” they said, warning that they could undermine efforts to resolve the Gaza war and hinder long-term peace prospects.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967.
Attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank have increased sharply since October 2023. They have blocked roads used by Palestinians, targeted private and commercial properties, and sabotaged agricultural land in several places over the past two years.
