RIYADH: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority thwarted two drug smuggling attempts at Duba Port and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, seizing 52,352 captagon pills and 3.8 kg of cocaine concealed in a shipment and a passenger’s luggage.
ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said that following the seizures, authorities coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to apprehend the intended recipients within the Kingdom, leading to four arrests.
Al-Harbi highlighted the authorities’ commitment to maintaining strict control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to enhance societal security by curbing the smuggling of illicit substances and other contraband.
He urged the public to support anti-drug efforts by reporting smuggling crimes confidentially via the dedicated number 1910, or through email.
