RIYADH: The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority thwarted an attempt to smuggle 58,721 amphetamine pills (captagon) concealed in one of the shipments arriving in the Kingdom at Al-Haditha border crossing.
ZATCA spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi said that a shipment of “olive oil” arrived at the port on one of the trucks, and when it underwent customs procedures and security screening, the concealed quantity of the narcotic amphetamine was uncovered. Al-Harbi affirmed that the authority continues to tighten customs controls at all entry and exit points and remains vigilant against smuggling attempts, in line with one of the authority’s key strategic pillars: enhancing the security and protection of society by reducing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other prohibited items.
Al-Harbi encourages the public to help combat smuggling and protect society and the national economy by reporting suspicious activities via the hotline 1910, the international number 009661910, or through email.
