MAKKAH: The Hira Cultural District in Makkah is seeing a surge in visitors during the school vacation, as people explore its diverse sections and enjoy cultural and heritage experiences blending history with modern vibrancy.
The district is a key project for tourism in the region, offering experiences that deepen an understanding of Mount Hira’s history and significance alongside interactive events and performances for all ages.
New events focused on local crafts, organized by the Heritage Commission and other partners, aim to promote artisans and traditional crafts as part of national heritage initiatives, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
A highlight was the “Little Artisan” activity, offering drawing and glass engraving workshops for children to foster artistic awareness and early talent.
The events include display platforms, discussion panels, and exhibitions of crafted products. They aim to expand artisans’ cultural and commercial presence and encourage public interest in authentic local items.
These programs make the district a cultural hub in Makkah, where visitors can engage with artisans and learn skills in an interactive environment.
Visitors can also explore buildings and areas showcasing traditional life, as well as pavilions presenting the region’s history and stories.
The district remains open throughout the week, providing services to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, amid growing efforts to develop tourism locally and internationally.
