MAKKAH: An event marking the launch of World Arabic Language Day celebrations, which was organized by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the Muslim World League, has taken place in Makkah.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, the league’s secretary-general; Abdullah Al-Washmi, the academy’s secretary-general; and prominent scholars, delegation heads, and experts in linguistic and cultural affairs.
Al-Issa praised the league’s partnership with the academy, noting its extensive efforts to promote Arabic, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.
He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to empowering the language through linguistic planning, digital platforms, dictionaries, cultural programs, and initiatives that strengthen linguistic identity across society.
Al-Washmi said the collaboration between the academy and the league during the celebrations of World Arabic Language Day provided a key step in international efforts to serve Arabic.
He added it reflected the academy’s role in coordinating initiatives and raising linguistic awareness globally, supporting Saudi Vision 2030’s goals to reinforce cultural identity and promote civilizational understanding.
The event included a scientific and cultural program with discussions on the state of Arabic in the Islamic world and approaches to teaching the language.
An accompanying exhibition showcased the academy’s projects, publications, and Arabic-related handicrafts, offering an interactive experience linking the language to Islamic cultural identity.
