Saudi Arabia readies for first FIA World Rally Championship round

  • 82 drivers to race over 1,218 km from Nov. 26-29
  • Kingdom is emerging as a global motorsport hub

JEDDAH: The highly-anticipated Rally Saudi Arabia Powered by Jameel Motorsport, the first-ever FIA World Rally Championship round to be held in the Kingdom, is now less than 10 days away.

Promoted by the Saudi Motorsport Co. with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, the rally takes place in Jeddah from Nov. 26 to 29 as the concluding round of the 2025 WRC season.

This edition will feature 82 drivers and co-drivers of 25 nationalities competing in three categories. Competitors will race a total of 1,218 km, including 319 km of 17 special stages.

The route will cut through the varied terrains surrounding Jeddah, passing through Khulais, Asfan, Thahban, Umm Al-Jurm, Al-Ghawla, and Wadi Al-Mutwi.

Designed as a fast, technical challenge, the course will test precision, adaptability and endurance — while highlighting the dramatic landscapes of western Saudi Arabia, according to the organizers.

Ahead of the main event, a parade of participating cars will be held along the Jeddah Corniche on Nov. 21, giving fans a rare chance to see the world’s leading drivers and teams up close.

Participants will also tour Historic Jeddah and celebrate the city’s rich heritage.

The finale marks a major milestone for the Kingdom and reinforces Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a global motorsport hub.

The achievement reflects the leadership’s support for the sector under Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy, empower the youth, and establish Jeddah as a world-class destination for sporting events.

Bologna snatch 2-1 win over Parma to reach Italian Cup quarterfinals, will face Milan or Lazio

  • Castro headed in a cross from Emil Holm in the 89th minute
  • The home side leveled shortly before halftime

BOLOGNA, Italy: Substitute Santiago Castro’s last-gasp goal sent Bologna into the Italian Cup quarterfinals as the defending champion came from behind to beat Parma 2-1 on Thursday.
Bologna, which won for the competition for the first time in 52 years last season, will face either AC Milan or Lazio, who were playing each other later.
Castro headed in a cross from Emil Holm in the 89th minute.
Serie A struggler Parma had taken a surprise lead in the 13th minute when Adrian Benedyczak ran onto a through ball from Mathias Løvik and slotted past Federico Ravaglia.
But the home side leveled shortly before halftime. Jonathan Rowe’s initial attempt hit the post but the English winger controlled the rebound and fired it home for his first goal since joining Bologna in August.
There was another positive note for Bologna as Ciro Immobile came on as a late substitute for his first appearance since a thigh injury in August.
