  • Three-day event featured dialogue sessions and workshops, attracting numerous visitors from the Kingdom and abroad

RIYADH: The International Translation Forum, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, concluded on Saturday in Riyadh.

The three-day event featured dialogue sessions and workshops, attracting numerous visitors from the Kingdom and abroad, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

More than 70 local and international experts participated in 15 sessions and 17 workshops, discussing trends, challenges, and strategies in translation.

On the final day, a panel titled “Cultural Transformations in Translation: The Saudi-Chinese Experience” explored cultural exchange and translation’s role in building knowledge bridges.

The session featured Najah Suliman, a translation studies and comparative literature expert from Ain Shams University, and was moderated by Rasheed Aljebreen from the ministry of culture.

Discussions focused on changes in Arabic-Chinese translation amid growing cultural openness and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China in literature, education and media.

Suliman highlighted the Saudi-Chinese Annual Cultural Program as a key initiative promoting cultural relations through translation, publishing, arts, and academic exchange.

The panel reviewed examples of mutual translations, including classical Chinese literature into Arabic and modern Saudi works into Chinese, enhancing knowledge exchange and cultural presence.

It emphasized translation as a strategic tool for understanding, expertise transfer, and strengthening academic and cultural cooperation, aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
