RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Authority on Monday said Israel’s decision to halt the electricity supply to Gaza was “an escalation in the genocide” in the war-ravaged territory.

The Palestinian foreign ministry said in a statement that it “strongly condemns the Israeli Ministry of Energy's decision to cut electricity to the Gaza Strip, considering it an escalation in the genocide, displacement and humanitarian disaster in Gaza”, which is controlled by Hamas and not the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority.

Th British government also urged Israel to lift the Gaza electricity “restrictions”

Jordanian and Libyan army commanders discuss expanding military cooperation

LONDON: Jordanian and Libyan army commanders met in Amman on Tuesday to discuss opportunities for joint military cooperation and coordination.

The meeting involved Jordan’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti and Libyan Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lt. Gen. Saddam Khalifa Abu Qasim.

The two sides discussed joint military cooperation, the exchange of training expertise, and capacity building to support defense partnerships and address shared security challenges, the Petra news agency reported.

Huneiti discussed key modernization programs by the Jordan Armed Forces and their ongoing humanitarian efforts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the JAF prioritize military cooperation to enhance regional security and mutual interests, the Petra added.

Abu Qasim stressed the importance of ongoing coordination and the sharing of military expertise between the two countries.
