Saudi Arabia to host US-Ukraine talks in Jeddah

RIYADH: Talks between the US and Ukraine will take place in Jeddah next week, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

A statement said the Kingdom welcomed the prospect of hosting the meeting and reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.

Saudi Arabia has facilitated multiple discussions to support a diplomatic solution over the past three years and remains committed to fostering dialogue and promoting stability.

The meeting follows recent talks in Riyadh between the US and Russia when officials discussed various international issues including the Ukraine crisis.

RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Yvette Cooper, the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, in Riyadh on Thursday, where the two sides discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.

The meeting, held at the Saudi Foreign Ministry headquarters, reviewed the strategic relationship between Saudi Arabia and the UK, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Discussions also focused on developments in the region and joint efforts to address them, according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Cooper expressed the UK’s condemnation of what she described as brutal attacks launched by Iran against the Kingdom and several other countries in the region.

She reaffirmed Britain’s solidarity with the countries affected by the attacks and stressed the need for coordinated international efforts to steer the region toward stability and peace.

The meeting was also attended by Saudi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Saud Al-Sati.
