RIYADH: Worshippers flocked on Monday night to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to perform Qiyam prayers on the first night of the last 10 days of Ramadan.

The atmosphere was marked by spirituality and tranquility as thousands gathered to perform the Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers.

The Saudi Press Agency’s cameras captured the flow of worshippers from the early hours in the corridors, courtyards, Mataf, and roads leading to the Grand Mosque as they prayed and recited the Qur’an.

The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques prepared the various sites and facilities of the Grand Mosque to provide advanced operational services for worshippers and Umrah performers, the SPA reported.

These included cleaning, sterilization, and perfuming operations using specialized tools distributed inside and outside the mosque.

Additional measures saw restrooms fully equipped with services, the provision of an increased number of prayer carpets, and the preparation of multiple stations for the distribution of Zamzam water to ensure the availability of both cold and normal water around the clock.

Entry and exit systems were also organized to facilitate the movement of worshippers, with designated entrances for the elderly and persons with disabilities.

These efforts are part of the continuous work undertaken to serve pilgrims and provide the highest levels of care, enabling worshippers to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility.

In Madinah, worshippers flocked to the Prophet’s Mosque to perform Qiyam prayers in a similarly peaceful and secure environment.

The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques prepared all sites and facilities of the Prophet’s Mosque in coordination with relevant departments and authorities to provide integrated services for worshippers, enabling them to perform their prayers with ease and comfort.

Preparations included opening the mosque’s gates and preparing its interior areas, roof, and courtyards to receive worshippers, in addition to maintenance, cleaning, operational services, and water distribution.

The workforce has been increased to ensure the smooth implementation of various tasks while deploying staff to organize crowds, open passageways, and facilitate the movement of worshippers inside the Prophet’s Mosque and its courtyards.
