Royal Saudi Navy receives Spanish-made vessel Hail at King Faisal Naval Base

  • Commander of the naval forces attends ceremony

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s naval forces on Tuesday received “His Majesty the King’s Ship Hail” at the King Faisal Naval Base, the home of the Western Fleet, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense announced.

An official reception ceremony took place to mark the arrival of the ship — which came from the manufacturing headquarters in Spain — with Vice Admiral Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Ghofaily, the commander of the naval forces, attending.

He boarded the ship upon its arrival, toured its sections, and viewed its modern equipment and advanced technologies, before signing the ship’s logbook.

Al-Ghofaily met the ship’s commander and crew, and praised their efforts during the training stages in Spain, saying he was looking forward to serving with naval forces personnel to protect the Kingdom’s vital strategic interests and confront all challenges and threats in the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

He added he appreciated the unlimited support for the armed forces from King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Prince Khalid bin Salman, the minister of defense.

The ship is the third of the Sarawat Project, which aims at the manufacture and construction of five naval vessels with specific capabilities to deal with various combat missions with high ability and efficiency.
