JEDDAH: Taif’s pleasant climate, moderate summer temperatures and cool winter weather make the region an ideal location for a thriving beekeeping industry.

The profession is cherished by the people of Taif, with longstanding traditions passed down through generations, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

In the city, a market holds weekly auctions to sell honey and other bee products.

Taif is situated at a strategic junction of the Najd, southern and western regions.

Beekeeper Amin Al-Asri said that Taif's bountiful valleys and blooming pastures lead to the creation of a type of honey unique to the region.

The Taif region, he said, is home to a variety of trees and plants that contribute to the production of high-quality honey. Sidr, which grows naturally, is an important element in the pollination process, with Taif honey being highly sought after for its medicinal properties.

Al-Asri added that Taif has witnessed a growing number of visitors interested in apiculture and bee products, especially since the launch of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Visitors to the region visit apiaries to learn about beekeeping, honey extraction and the various types of honey produced.
