King Abdulaziz Public Library to host first book club forum

RIYADH: The First Reading Club Forum organized by the King Abdulaziz Public Library will take place on Saturday at the reading rooms on Khurais Street in Riyadh.

It brings together representatives of book clubs from across the Kingdom to exchange experiences and promote a culture of reading.

Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the general supervisor of the library, said: “This forum aims to motivate people to read. Today, we live in the age of knowledge. It does not only include one field of culture, literature, languages, sciences or economy. It is a comprehensive system in a world where technology and diverse technological tools are spreading, motivating us to give reading our utmost attention, especially with the library’s long history in the field, given its contributions to different knowledge across its branches within the Kingdom and abroad.”

HIGHLIGHT

A second seminar will discuss ‘Promoting Reading,’ and the forum will conclude with remarks from Dr. Bandar Al- Mubarak, the library’s director general, and Dr. Fahad Al-Olayan, director of the National Cultural Project for the Renewal of our Relationship with the Book.

Reading clubs play a significant role in encouraging literature in society, he added, highlighting the importance of discussions, workshops and specialized meetings.

The forum will include several events, including a workshop titled “Saudi Reading Clubs… Reality and Opportunities.”

Muammar will deliver an opening statement, followed by a seminar conducted by representatives from reading clubs around the Kingdom.

A second seminar will discuss “Promoting Reading,” and the forum will conclude with remarks from Dr. Bandar Al-Mubarak, the library’s director general, and Dr. Fahad Al-Olayan, director of the National Cultural Project for the Renewal of our Relationship with the Book.

8 NGOs join Saudi Arabia’s national vegetation drive

  • The center continues to promote collaboration across sectors to expand environmental awareness and advance sustainability goals through knowledge exchange

RIYADH: The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has signed memoranda of understanding with several nonprofit environmental associations to strengthen partnerships with the nonprofit sector in advancing national goals for environmental sustainability.

The MoUs were signed with eight associations: Al-Nakaa Association, Lavender Society, Darb Hiking Trails and Walking Trips Association, Hail Agriculture Development Association, Yanbu Environmental Association, Rifaq Environment Association (Hail), Aghsan Environmental Association, and Pristine Future Environment Association.

The center said cooperation with the nonprofit sector enhances volunteer and community initiatives and maximizes environmental and social impact across the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The agreements are part of a broader cooperation framework covering afforestation and land rehabilitation projects, nature-based tourism support, expertise exchange, capacity building through training, and community environmental awareness.

The center continues to promote collaboration across sectors to expand environmental awareness and advance sustainability goals through knowledge exchange, coordinated community efforts, joint outreach programs, and initiatives supporting national environmental objectives.
