RIYADH: The diplomatic community bid farewell to the outgoing ambassadors of Portugal and Thailand, and welcomed several new envoys, at special gathering in Riyadh recently.
Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Riyadh Dya-Eddine Bamakhrama told Arab News on Wednesday the reception was held at his residence, where they said goodbye to Portugal’s Nuno Mathias and Thailand’s Darm Boontham.
Bamakhrama presented them with commemorative gifts, thanked them for their service, and wished them well.
Mathias said he was “honored” and thanked Bamakhrama “for his exceptional leadership, guidance and for organizing such a warm and memorable tribute.”
There was a welcoming ceremony for new ambassadors from Panama, Gambia, Comoros, Australia, Lebanon, and Myanmar.
“This gathering reflects the spirit of cooperation among members of the diplomatic corps and underscores the strong ties linking their diplomatic missions with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Bamakhrama.
