Who’s Who: AlJoharh Khalid AlSmari, senior manager at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority

AlJoharh Khalid AlSmari has been human capital business partner senior manager at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority since 2019. Her key responsibilities include managing business performance and talent development, driving culture positively throughout the organization, enabling operational change in Diriyah as well as heading business partnerships in aligning human capital strategy and functions with business objectives.

Before joining DGDA, she was an organization and talent development professional at Saudi Entertainment Ventures from 2018 to 2019. Before that, AlSmari also worked as a human capital business partner at Riyadh Airports from 2016 to 2018. Some of her roles included implementing change within management activities, developing Riyadh airport’s core values and working closely with the executive team to create workforce material for the board on a quarterly basis.

Early in her career, she worked as a recruitment executive at Tawuniya Insurance Co. from 2014 to 2016, handling all recruitment-related requests for newly established divisions and providing management with monthly KPI reports. AlSmari also worked as a master data analyst for Tata Consultancy in 2014, where she was tasked with maintaining processes to support data quality.

From 2013 to 2014 she also worked with MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada, within talent attraction. Throughout her career, AlSmari has earned multiple online certificates in strategic workforce planning, job evaluation and benchmarking strategic thinking, as well as planning and management development programs.

AlSmari obtained a bachelor’s degree in English from Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in 2014. She then went on to complete an associate diploma in people management through the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2020. AlSmari studied executive leadership at the London Business School in 2021.

JEDDAH: The Arabian Leopard Fund and Panthera Arabia have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening regional and international efforts to protect the Arabian leopard, one of the world’s most endangered subspecies, in conjunction with World Wildlife Day.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed by both parties to enhance cooperation in conserving the Arabian leopard across its natural habitats in the Arabian Peninsula.

The collaboration will focus on protecting priority habitats, developing breeding programs, implementing capacity-building initiatives, launching community awareness campaigns and addressing challenges that threaten the long-term sustainability of wildlife.

Officials said announcing the partnership on the occasion of World Wildlife Day highlights the importance of unifying international efforts and advancing cooperation based on sustainable scientific solutions to ensure the survival of the Arabian leopard for future generations.

The agreement reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to playing a leading role in environmental protection and wildlife conservation, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, particularly in promoting environmental sustainability, protecting biodiversity and strengthening collective environmental action.
