RIYADH, 12 October — Participants in the third Hospitals Invitation Team Tennis Tournament (HITTT) celebrated the successful conclusion of HITTT 2001 with the holding of the “Power Horse Awards night” here recently. After hundreds of exciting matches played since the searing summer month, victorious tennis enthusiasts who completed in 10 different categories came to the function to collect their trophies — courtesy to Power Horse.
Gracing the occasion were the executives of Power Horse Middle East Ltd., which had been the main sponsor of HITTT 2001. Heading the Power Horse contingent was Hermann Ritz, country manager, whose encouragement to the organizers was heard aloud, when he said in his opening remarks that Power Horse hopes to see a repeat of the tournament with Power Horse ensuring full support next time.
Similar praises came from George Rebeiz, Power Horse Events Manager Richard Bradley, Power Horse Finance Director and Ramon Quema, Jr., Administrative and Support Services Manager. Many valuable prizes were also raffled off to participants, which included a multi-system TV set, a VCD component, cell phone, watches and various household items. Sarawat Superstore donated grocery packages, Racquet Shop provided shoes and shirts and Larry Bustamante of Al Hakbani Est. gave away a box of tennis balls.
In his speech, M. A. Lector, HITTT chairman, acknowledged the various triumphant teams and all participants in the success of the tournament and expressed gratitude to HITTT’s major sponsor Power Horse, which he said has been behind them since HITTT’s debut in 1999.
Referring to the efforts of Power Horse to promote sports and cultural events, Ritz said that the Power Horse energy drink company has set up a new chapter in Dammam to help government agencies and sports organizations to organize sports events in the Eastern Province. To this end, he noted that Power Horse has agreed to sponsor a major marathon on Nov. 11 in the Eastern Province.
He pointed out that Power Horse worked closely with the organizers of Saudi sports exhibition, which was inaugurated by Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd, governor of Eastern Province, recently. This Austrian energy drink company, he said, participated in Dammam Cornich Festival, which concluded recently. The company is also working to promote sports activities at the campus of the prestigious King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).
The Dammam office of Power Horse, Ritz said, is working on new strategies as how to promote sports and cultural events in the Eastern Province. He called on the sports clubs of the Eastern province, interested individuals, academic institutions and students to contact Power Horse office in Dammam on fax 03-8177671 and phone 01-8178505 for support to organize sports events.
