Arab League chief urges Libyan political consensus

CAIRO: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has urged all Libyan parties to work toward reaching a “political consensus” for the sake of the country’s stability.

He stressed the need for the international community to support all efforts that strengthen Libyan unity and stability, and the holding of elections that reflect the free will of the people and renew the legitimacy of state institutions.

DAMASCUS: Syrian authorities said Monday they have arrested two members of the Islamic State (IS) group, accusing them of being behind December’s deadly bombing of a mosque in an Alawite area of the city of Homs.
In a statement, the interior ministry announced the arrest of “Ahmed Attallah Al-Diab and Anas Al-Zarrad, who belong to the Daesh terrorist organization and are responsible for the bombing that targeted the Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi Al-Dahab neighborhood."
