ISLAMABAD: The government has allowed 100% capacity crowds at Pakistan Super League games from February 16, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), which oversees Pakistan's response to the coronavirus pandemic, said on Monday.
The seventh edition of the flagship tournament started with matches in Karachi on January 27. From February 10, the remaining matches of the series will be held in Lahore.
The PSL is Pakistan’s own professional T20 cricket league, comprising six teams that each represent a major city.
“Pakistan Cricket Board has been allowed to conduct Pakistan Super League (PSL) Lahore matches with 50% stadium capacity for fully vaccinated spectators till 15th February 2022,” the NCOC said in a statement. “However, from 16 February onwards 100% stadium capacity for fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed. Children under 12 years of age (un-vaccinated) will also be allowed.”
The NCOC said a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for inbound passengers on arrival at Pakistan airports had been abolished with effect from February 8.
“However, RAT test will continue to be conducted for deportees from foreign countries and for non-vaccinated individuals arriving from land border terminals,” the NCOC statement read.
Coronavirus cases have been on the decline in Pakistan in the last week. According to the NCOC, 38% of Pakistan's total population and 56% of its eligible population has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
