RIYADH: Authorities arrested five people for attempting to distribute a large quantity of amphetamine pills and other tablets in western Saudi Arabia.
Maj. Mohammed Al-Nujaidi, spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, said the arrests occurred during security monitoring of smuggling and drug promotion networks targeting the security of the Kingdom.
Al-Nujaidi said authorities arrested four citizens and a Somai national violating the border security system, and seized 829 amphetamine tablets, other illegal pills and tablets subject to medical regulation, after they appeared in a video clip riding in vehicles without license plates in a neighborhood in Jeddah.
He add that initial legal measures have been taken against the two citizens, and they have been referred them to the Public Prosecution.

Saudi Arabia condemns mosque bombing in Pakistan which left dozens dead

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Friday strongly condemned a terrorist bombing that targeted a mosque in Islamabad, leaving several people dead and injured, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

A suicide bomber targeted a Shiite mosque on the outskirts of the Pakistan capital during Friday prayers, killing 31 people and wounding at least 169 others, officials said.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack and reiterated the Kingdom’s firm stance against targeting places of worship, terrorising civilians and shedding innocent blood.

The ministry affirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Pakistan in confronting all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism.

It also extended condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Pakistan, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
