Saudi air defenses intercept 2 Houthi drones targeting Khamis Mushayt

  • France condemns the recent Houthi attacks targeting populated cities and airports in the Kingdom

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s air defenses destroyed two explosive-laden drones on Tuesday launched by the Houthi militia in Yemen toward the Kingdom’s southern region.
Both drones were targeting the city of Khamis Mushayt, state TV reported
“All the militia’s futile attempts to target civilians were repelled and destroyed,” the coalition said.
Meanwhile, France said it strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthis on Oct. 7 and 8 targeting airports in Abha and Jazan, which wounded a number of people.
It also condemned the recent strikes targeting southern Saudi Arabia in the past days, “which are in violation of international law,” saying: “These air attacks threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and the stability of the region.”
France called on the Houthis to immediately end their destabilizing actions in Yemen and the region and move forward constructively in the political process to end the crisis in Yemen.
“France reiterates the mobilization of its efforts for the cessation of hostilities in the entire country and the resumption of talks in order to reach a comprehensive political agreement under the auspices of the UN,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Bahrain also issued statements condemning Tuesday’s attacks and renewed solidarity with the kingdom in all measures it takes to maintain its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
