Arab coalition destroys Houthi drones, ballistic missile targeting Saudi Arabia

  • OIC Secretary-General condemned militia’s attempt to target civilians

LONDON: The Arab coalition intercepted and destroyed two Houthi drones targeting Saudi Arabia’s southern region on Friday and a ballistic missile fired by the militia toward the Kingdom later on in the day.

The coalition said the Houthis tried to attack a civilian target in the Kingdom’s southern region with the ballistic missile but it was intercepted. 

The coalition added that it was taking measures to protect civilians and civilian property in accordance with international humanitarian law.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Yousef bin Ahmad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othaimeen condemned the militia’s attempt to target civilians in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Othaimeen reaffirmed the OIC’s solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security and stability.

Earlier in February, the Arab coalition foiled multiple attacks launched by the militia against the Kingdom, including a drone attack on Abha airport which drew international condemnation after it caused a passenger plane to catch fire.

Two Holy Mosques launch Ramadan operational plan

MAKKAH: The Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced full readiness for Ramadan, implementing an operational plan based on 10 strategic pillars, comprising more than 100 initiatives and several educational, guidance, and counseling programs.

The presidency said the plan supports the educational and outreach role of the Two Holy Mosques and aims to enrich the spiritual experience of pilgrims and visitors with programs designed for the season.

It uses digital tools and expands language and translation services to accommodate worshippers’ diverse cultural and linguistic needs, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Key elements include religious lessons, Qur’an memorization, guidance and counseling services, and dedicated channels for religious inquiries.

Additionally, the presidency is launching initiatives in religious and intellectual awareness, distributing the Holy Qur’an, educational booklets, and awareness messages to support worshippers’ understanding and spiritual development.

The presidency affirmed that its human resources, operational systems, and technological infrastructure are prepared to provide services that help pilgrims perform rituals safely and comfortably.
