ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Minister for Narcotics Control, Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah, said the country’s Anti Narcotics Force would work in close coordination with Saudi Arabia to combat the drug trade and crackdown on suppliers.
Shah said this in a meeting with Drug Liaison Officer of Saudi Arabia, Faisal Alboghami, at the Ministry of Narcotics Control in Islamabad where the two leaders discussed cooperation to combat drugs and create a drug-free society.
“Drug suppliers are the real culprits, they must be held accountable,” Shah was quoted as saying in a statement from his office. “Exchange and timely sharing of information is key to successful operations against drug suppliers.”
He added: “It is very important that those working to fight the curse know where and when to act. The Anti Narcotics Force will work in close coordination with Saudi officials to ensure effective working.”
“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have always worked well together,” Shah said. “Its a dream to see a drug-free society in both the countries.”
Alboghami agreed, saying all institutions needed to “work together” to eliminate drugs from our society.”
